A message from an elephant

.

To the humans that destroyed me,

Here I am in a cage

With all these children

Watching me.

.

Once I was in the wild

once upon a time I could

Stand by my mother knowing

I was safe

But I was wrong.

.

You took my tusks

you took my friends

You took my family

And you took my heart

But left me all on my own.

.

Why would you do that?

Why would you think it’s ok

to go around killing elephants

Even all animals.

That was my family.

That was my life.

Well I guess not anymore.

The Message from a Whale

.

Dear World,

This is my story.

My pod of ten,

playing around

eating anything near us.

Then there was trouble,

our number decreased.

.

Ten left,

nine

eight

.

the boats came,

whizzing over us.

Harpoons hit the water

took my mum,

blood spilling everywhere

.

Seven

Six

Five

.

they keep on coming,

taking more and more of us.

Then they took them away.

I never saw them again,

wondering what happened

as more of us went.

.

four

three

two

Just me left.

.

I was all alone,

wondering if

I was next.

Splash,

I heard it again.

Sharp pain shot through my back.

I was getting pulled up.

I knew it was the END.

.

Then there was

none.

Bang

.

Bang

At once I am holding my family

Bang

At once I see red

Bang

All I can hear is screaming

.

walking

All I see is houses, rejected

Walking

I see children lying in a bath of blood

Walking

I can feel the bed which I lay on my feet

.

Crying

I now fall to the floor

Crying

I can already feel the pain

Crying

I know this will stay the same

.

Dying

I can feel my stomach crumbling

dying

I feel my heart breaking

Dying

.

I fall

Dear Human…

.

The stars, they shine without a reason,

the world it spins, to change the season,

Blue rivers bubble and wave and flow,

A silver moon gleams, but in the morning goes.

.

Yet humans fight without a cause,

and actions change into these wars,

Peace is a word you seem not to know,

You cut down trees, they fall like dominoes.

.

Butterflies flutter and lie in the sun,

And frogs they hope and catch flies on their tongue,

Deer in the forest, they leap and prance,

Whilst under the seas, small fish dance.

.

Yet humans kill without a motive,

Why do you hurt me with deadly explosives?

Love is a word that you never show,

Though perhaps you once did, many winters ago.

.

Dear human, I hope that one day you’ll see,

That all of this hurt you burden on me,

Has consequences, outcomes, results and effects,

And all of the damages and times of neglect,

Have an impact on your future and your tomorrow,

I hope you won’t let children live in a world of sorrow,

I hope you can rebuild me, change what you’ve done,

Please human, help me and your only true battle will be won.

Dear old oak

.

I’m sorry

I’m sorry we cut you down

I’m sorry that you’re on the ground

Just because I said I’m sorry

Doesn’t mean you have to accept my apology

And now you’re paper

I won’t be able to use you later

because now I have written this letter

(and covered you all in glitter).

Although you may

not be the same

I think you’re beautiful

no matter your name,

plant

tree

wood

paper.

But you know I love you

no matter what,

even if you were turned inot an old grandfather clock

you will always find a special place in my heart

even if I’m in the dark

I’m sorry,

and please do accept my apology,

and I hope you know I send this with love,

and forgive us all for all of the above,

.

Sincerely,

Me

The Water of Death

.

The water of death

it cannot be better.

Friends, family, everything gone,

so I swim alone, wishing, hoping.

.

The water of death

not to see in the dark

not to see my loved ones again

trying to dodge the endless trash

.

The water of death

everywhere I look there is death lurking, creeping

throwing endless cages for me to get trapped

and endless rods to get me impaled

.

The water of death

I am still trying to escape

but still death is relentless

until I see the darkness spread

Dear rhino

.

I’m so sorry you’re dying,

and I know some of us are trying,

you get shot for your horns,

but you are such a fighter,

with your brown leather skin

and your big, floppy tail,

you should live to fight,

and be king of the world.

We shouldn’t be king over you.

To a helpless criminal

.

Blood and poverty drowns us,

yet in the blanket of darkness

stars of hope still shine on me.

.

Death is the water that turns

a magnificent fire of life

into black ash.

My family lost their flame,

the day they turned away from the stars.

.

My silver lights may still be shining

but they will darken without you,

this is a message to a lazy criminal

that has a heart of stone,

this is a message to you.

To That Terrorist

To that terrorist,

that creeps up in the night and strikes,

then disappears

and gets ready to strike and strike again.

.

To that terrorist,

that makes children cry,

that now is blowing up our history,

and leaves us here to die.

.

To that terrorist,

that murders in the night,

that is tearing the world apart,

now makes us fight.

.

To that terrorist,

that is always in the shadows,

but with no warning,

takes us from the light.

.

To that terrorist,

that thinks that it’s ok

to sneak I and out with the guilty,

to give us such a fright.

.

To that terrorist,

that nobody knows,

the one that holds us all hostage,

when one disappears.

.

To that terrorist,

we will survive,

if you fight now,

we will survive.

Apology to the World

.

Dear World,

.

I am sorry for ruining your territory,

for destroying your forests,

for killing your future,

for not being honest.

.

I am sorry for the rhinos,

for the horns I took,

for the meat I stole,

for making it cook.

.

I am sorry for the panda,

for the polar bear,

for the leopard,

for the hare.

.

I am sorry for the orangutan,

for the dolphin,

for the tiger,

for the orphans.

.

I am sorry for the refugees,

for the breaths

for the tiredness,

for the deaths.

.

Dear world, is it too late,

or can we start over?

My Elephant Message

.

My tusks are gone

My friends the same

My parents are gone

And we don’t know how

.

My skin’s now wanted

To burn or to sell

My life is now broken

I don’t know how

.

What to do

Well, I’m not sure

Where to hide

Away from their lure

.

How will I live

Not to be seen

Me and my friend

Away from human beings

.

This is my message

From me to all

Now please do me a favour

And take it on board

Apology to a Polar Bear

.

Sorry Polar Bear

I am very sorry, Polar Bear

that we’re destroying your snowy lair,

making it a struggle to raise your cubs

while we sit back looking like mugs.

Sorry Polar Bear

Your powerful legs take you a long way

while your cubs sit and lay

waiting for you to bring them food

to put them in a much better mood.

Sorry Polar Bear

Sorry you strong, white beast

as we sit here having  a feast.

Your icy world is at stake,

purely because of our selfish mistakes.

A message to society

Dear society,

Why are we racist?

Why are we sexist?

Why are we discriminatory?

Whether you’re black or white,

whether male or female,

whether you’re North Korean or South Korean

We are the same.

.

Us, who believe in dignity, strength and courage.

What matters and makes us different

Is what is on the inside.

Sorry lion,

your magnificent coat

is carpet in a boat.

.

Sorry lion,

your wonderful wife

was killed by a knife.

Sorry lion,

Dear Penguins,

.

We’ve been trying to help you

By stopping pollution and CO2

which has been killing you

I hope it’s not too late

.

We’ve spoilt your habitat

By spilling oil and dumping rubbish

We’ve polluted the sea and killed the fish

I hope it’s not too late

Message to a Tree

.

Tree, I’m really sorry

For cutting and beating

You down to your knees

We’ve done bad things to our world

But we’ve done worse

We’ve cut down forests and devastated landscapes

But now we’re doing worse…

Message to the Rainforest – I Will Try

Dear rainforest,

I will try to stop them cutting you down,

it won’t be easy, people treat you like a clown.

I will write to the government, king and queen,

even if you are starting to lean.

.

I will try to let the birds have a house,

it will also help out the louse.

the oxygen you produce is how we live,

I think it’s time for the people to give.

.

Without paper we can survive.

No oxygen, well, we won’t be alive.

.

I will try to stop them cutting you down,

no promises, if this is the end, you were great,

you deserve a crown.

.

Don’t know how it will go, I will try

From Darcey (the human).

Message to an Iceberg

.

Dear Iceberg

.

I have to tell you, it is us

we are making all the fuss

.

We know you’re melting

however people are belching

out with smoke

.

We know you’re meant to be cold

and we’re way to bold

.

It’s not right that you are dying

We don’t care because we’re flying

.

I’m so sorry about my people

I’ll go stick them in sticky treacle

Yours,

.

And we’ve killed you

Apology to a Hedgehog

.

We can view them

Spike by spike

Below the big, bright lights

They crawl around

Without a frown

They run.

.

We can scare them

Bombs, cars, buildings

Home to home to home

Alone.

.

We stop and burrow

Underneath your home

You gas us out

And now we have no home.

.

Although you are hiding and running

We will wander the road of the unknown

Help us or we will be alone

We are hedgehogs.

Apology to a Greyhound

.

Why do we make you run so fast?

Released from the traps so we can tempt you with the hare as bait,

Think you can turn the sand to glass,

But all that happens is that you wait

And when you reach your last,

So then to you we sate,

When you can no longer turn the sand to glass

And no longer be released from the traps to be tempted with the hare as bait,

You are past.

Gone to the next life to end your tormented wait.

To Humans – Message from a lone wolf

.

Why humans,

Do you come to me,

Separate my pack,

Lock me in a cold cage,

Wear my family off your backs?

.

I sit there in that lonely cage,

But Nay! A friend arrives,

Behold yet it’s an empty shell,

For as your coat it flies.

.

But now I’m free and snow falls low,

While dust streaking my fur,

I see my favourite hunting spot,

Is also now your turf.

.

And as I write this, looking up,

My moon lights up the sky,

Will you take that from me as well?

I’d like to see you try.
